Resources

Resources are the databases and webpages that you wish to offer your patrons to broaden their searching experience.

The default for Pathfinder Pro Administration is to open the Resources tab.

Example Resources are loaded initially, but you can edit or remove existing entries and create new entries as needed.

By default a new Resource is inactive until you change it to active.

Name: the publicly displayed label. Use a well known name or add an explanation.

Example: IMDB (Internet Movie DataBase).

Description: only seen by staff in the admin interface, so this is a brief note to help with the management of Pathfinder Pro.

Examples: Trial on staging; Template for gale group databases.

Category: pull-down list from which to select one group this resource should fall into when being shown in theWebPAC bib panel display or a Milllennium client.

These Categories may be established before working on your Resources, to save you time.

If the resource link is to appear with a displayed bibliographic record, then supply the details here.

URL: the URL to be used to link to the resource. This includes proxying of the address and/or client ID data. It also can contain field selectors to include data from the search or record as part of the URL.

Example:

http://www.thecontentserver.com/bin/cntsvr.dll?GetInventory&SysID=R12345&CustID=III&Key=88888#@ISBN#

Clicking Yes for the WebPAC/Encore bib panel means that the link will appear in a pop-up panel. The panel is displayed when the patron clicks on the Pathfinder Pro button. Within the panel, the Resource links shown will be sorted into Categories.

Resources can be set to appear in both table and panel if required. Clicking Yes for Millennium staff modules enables a link to be shown for any Module origin you have defined when a staff member clicks on the Pathfinder Icon.

The next section determines if any data tests apply. These are used to conditionally display a Resource.

Move applicable data tests to the Selected box and choose All tests pass if the resource should be suppressed unless every test is successful or Any tests pass if the resource should be suppressed unless any one of the tests is successful.

These Data Tests should be established before working on your Resources, to save you time.
