Resources

Resources are the databases and webpages that you wish to offer your patrons to broaden their searching experience.

The default for WebBridge LR Administration is to open to the Resources tab.

Example Resources are loaded initially, but you can edit or remove existing entries and create new entries as needed.

By default a new Resource is inactive until you change it to active.

Name: the publicly displayed label. Use a well known name or add an explanation.
Example: IMDB (Internet Movie DataBase).

Description: only seen by staff in the administraitve interface, so this is a brief note to help with the management of WebBridge LR.
Examples: Trial on staging; Template for gale group databases.

Category: WebBridge LR creates links between resources and an origin within a category. A resource definition can be assigned to only one category. (Origins can be assigned to multiple categories.) For the link to a resource to display from an origin, the category of the resource definition must match one of the categories selected for the origin.

These Categories may be established before working on your Resources.

URL: the URL to be used to link to the resource. This will use data from either an Open URL compliant resource, or from a resource that uses content from a secondary source, usually the coverage database. Obtain the resource's URL or its "link to" syntax from the resource vendor. This URL includes proxying of the address and/or client ID data. It also can contain field selectors to include data from the search or record as part of the URL.

Example:
http://0-openurl.ebscohost.com.proxyserver.library.edu/linksvc/linking.aspx? genre=article&issn=#@ISSN-HYPHEN#&title=#@TITLE#&atitle =#@ATITLE#&date=
#@DATE#&issue=#@ISSUE#&volume=#@VOLUME#&page=#@PAGE#&aulast=#@AUTHOR#

The next section determines if any data tests apply. These are used to conditionally display a Resource.

Move applicable data tests to the Selected box and choose All tests pass if the resource should be suppressed unless every test is successful or Any tests pass if the resource should be suppressed unless any one of the tests is successful.

Match against this resource would only be relevant for specific resources if you have Electronic Resource Management and you have loaded coverage data from the vendor.

For additional information, refer to the Innovative Guide and Reference, Page #108092: Applying Filters in Resource Definitions.

You may also expand the Additional Settings to determine the sort order, associate an image file with this particular resource, and to choose whether or not to log statistics from this resource.

If you want this resource to be linked to directly from the citation page, then select Yes for "Is this a direct connect resource?". For resources in which Yes is selected, there will be no intermediate resource panel. It is best to use this when it is known that this resource is preferred and no other resource would be selected given a list of choices including this one.
