Placing Holds |
Two types of holds can be placed for patrons.
![]() The title-level hold places a hold on the first available copy of a title. These types of holds are also known as 'Copy Returned Soonest' holds. A title-level hold attaches to the bibliographic record for the desired title. For this reason, title-level holds are sometimes also referred to as bibliographic-level holds. A title-level hold is satisfied when an item associated with the specified bibliographic record is returned to the library system. ![]() With an item-level hold, the hold is attached to an individual item record (for example, a specific copy of a book or a specific volume of a set). An item-level hold is satisfied when that specific item is returned to the library system. Either type of hold can be placed in several situations. For example:
